Farewell to Communism
art and poetry by
Matthew Z. Zomick

yesterday it was wet
today it is hot
tomorrow cold sweat

farewell to communism
memories thrown away
lost but not forgotten

"Farewell to Communism" or "The Wall is Broken" found/modified art by Matthew Z. Zomick (2011)

I was there in his flat on 27/28 July and helped create the first one, the wall coming down or something about communism dying, later, "Farewell to Communism."

The act of discordant surfaces meeting through dampness or water, then half drying and separating, creating new images.
This was of course nothing more than incident, not intent.

But what MZ Zomick sensed was he had found treasure in the bins or gutters requiring saving,
creating a new life.

Found Art, Lost Memories
a poem by Matthew Z. Zomick

passed out and hungover in a gutter
stuck celluloid and stale urine stench

one man's treasure is another man's gold
moronic and oxidated

seek and you shall find
cannot be fixed if it is not broken

seek and you shall see
cannot be found if not lost

Rock on and practice peace and love.

After living at the Hotel Queen Mary in Budapest (3.5 stars), I heartily recommend it: old on the outside, otherwise totally modern (23 rooms);

The owner and staff are affable and speak English and German. Tel: 0036-1-413-3510; www.hotelqueenmary.hu; info@hotelqueenmary.hu.

Visit Andalusia for a walking holiday or week-long sculpture or mosaics workshop.

ArtTraveler´s video: an interview with Scottish illustrator and painter, Gordon Wilson, about his "I Love Fish" exhibition, inspired by a commissioned mural he did 13 years ago for a West Glasgow gangster, who loved supporting writers and artists as well as organized crime.
