ArtTraveler digests more recent events affecting Spanish artists

Spanish artists, members of Mujeres Artistas Por La Paz (women artists for peace), in December painted large murals on the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank cities of Bethlehem and Qalqiliya.

"The Spanish Manner: Drawings from Ribera to Goya'" remains on show at the Frick Collection, 1 E. 70th St., NYC, through 9 January.

Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery features photographs by Jose Luis Raymond - Besta Contra Besta - (Beast vs. Beast) through 17 March; Raymond is also a Spanish painter, scenic designer and sculptor. His images focus on the human capacity for violence.

Ten Spanish artists designed the new Eastpak Artistic Studio Collection of back packs. The collection will go on show at Radikal Designs in Barcelona in February.

Sculptor Rosa Serra designed the Bronze AIPS Power of Sport trophy, which will be awarded at the International Sports Press Association on 27 January in Lausanne.

In Mijas, the latest show by Pena Barranquero closed yesterday at the Casa Museo de la Villa de Mijas.

Local Fuengirola artist Ted Reynolds shows his latest works at the Casa Danesa Restaurant in the village through the end of this month.

Until 31 January, the Marbella Museo del Grabado Contemporaneo shows 12 photographs and one video by Italian artist Guido Anderloni.

"Toys of the Avant-garde," a special exhibition at Museo Picasso Malaga closes the end of this month, featuring toys made for children of some of the world's greatest artists, including Picasso.
